~Wrestling with the nails of the cross~

Joh:19:15: But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

When we think of a crucified man, who comes to mind first? It is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. But have you really ever thought about what that act of crucifixion truly is? When a verdict was passed down from the Roman courts, and a crucifixion was about to take place, this was no walk in the park. The very act of crucifying a person was for one thing, and one thing only, to kill the person who has been hung. It was a very brutal death for the one found guilty of a crime worthy of this sentence. It was the “death sentence” of the Roman era. Jesus died on a cross for all of mans sins, and if you have accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, then part of you has been nailed to that cross with your King.  You see, when a person is born again by the acceptance of Jesus Christ, a transformation takes place. They have been “born again”, and the “old nature” has been sentenced to death for its sins.  What does it mean to believe and have faith that Jesus died for our sins? It means that we believe and have faith in the nails that held our Lord to the cross. You see, part of you died on that cross with Jesus, it was your “old nature”.
The “old nature” is the person you were before you let Jesus into your heart. Oh my friend, you may think that part of your old life is still alive and well inside of you, but is that true? Is that “old nature” doing well? Are you struggling with it? Or is it easier just to give in? Well, if you have truly accepted Jesus, we may feel a struggle inside to continue sinning.  That “old nature” of yours has been nailed to the cross, and we may feel the struggle from time to time. Unlike our Lord Jesus who did die on the cross, our “old nature” hasn’t died just yet.
Ro:6:6-7: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
It is not until we pass from this world into the kingdom of our Lord that we will truly die to self. As long as we are in these flesh bodies, the battle continues. That “old man” of ours has those nails holding him to the cross, and when you gave your life over to Jesus Christ, the nails went into him. And that “old nature” doesn’t like it one bit. He will fight you “tooth and nail”. Once you give something over to Jesus, you can’t take it back. And if you accept Jesus as the savior of your life, then you have given yourself to HIM! And there is a battle going on in there! The “old nature” doesn’t want to give you up! There is an invisible war going on in most people that we cant even imagine, even in the born again person.
That is the struggle for most of us. We struggle with the everyday decisions that we must make. And sometimes, the decisions we make go against our moral values. As Christians we rely on the Holy Bible to instruct us in our daily living. Just as literal as those nails used on Jesus Christ were, the bible is the literal Word of God.  It is the book that the Devil fears for us to open. Even Satan knows that the Holy Bible is the Word of God, (plenty of Satan’s children read it).  The Word of God tells us that Jesus Christ has paid for our sins, and that when we accept Him, we belong to Him. And all of our sins are up there on the cross, paid in full.
Ga:5:24-25: And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
If we truly believe that Jesus died for our sins, we need to trust and have faith in all that He has done. All of our affections and lusts are now nailed to cross, and they continue to struggle with the fact that they are dead.  They are pulling and tugging at those nailed hands, resisting death. Nothing comes off of the cross alive once it has been hammered there. And your sins will not be coming back down.  Yes you can tug at them and try, but you will feel it inside, the closer you walk with Jesus in your daily living, the less and less you will fight it. Just give all of your faults to Jesus, hang all of your “old nature” with the Lord, and let HIM keep them.  You can’t take it back, there was only once price for sin to be paid, and the nails of Jesus were good enough to take all of our sins. He did it alone, and fulfillment belongs to Him, don’t try to take back what God has already paid for, it belongs to HIM! When we join Christ for all of eternity, then the old nature will truly die, and we will live without temptations or sorrows forever.

May God bless you Abundantly.

Wrestling with the nails of the cross
www.graceinspiredministries.com Sometimes in our lives, we may feel that the things we do for the consideration of others really doesn’t add up to very much. We may feel that a small act of kindness, or a small task that we do in the name of Jesus, to be just that, small and insignificant. We may feel unappreciated, or that our hardest efforts did not bring forward the desired Wrestling with the nails of the cross

happened in history past or future. Through this One Man’s death, burial, and resurrection, the entire Kingdom of Heaven has been established so that all may enter through the Name of Christ. Some people try to size down the importance of Jesus to all of mankind, which is a mistake. He is the Tree that covers every last believer in His redemption of all mankind. This good news is nothing small to those who believe in Him.  (continued...)
